Next Generation is a network of evangelical charismatic churches in the UK. During 'On The Move' (an outreach event in Birmingham) last year, links were built up between CVC churches and Kitts Green Evangelical Church. Pastor Stephen Williams, part of the national executive of Next Generation, introduced the Kingfisher project to the network.
The Next Generation network hosts bible teaching seminars, leadership training events, youth events, music workshops and evangelism workshops. NG also offers training in the management of change and mission programmes both at home and abroad, and runs a full time Bible School.
NG was formed when a small group of church leaders discovered that God had been speaking about old models of church life and expression becoming less relevant to today's society and calling churches find new ways of expressing God's love. NG realised that the ministries identified in Ephesians 4 (verses 11-16) were God's most effective way of building His church. With this in mind, congregations networked together to identify ministries that could be shared amongst a wider community. The Next Generation network made it possible for relationships to be established amongst church leaders with common purpose and vision, in order to support and stimulate each other in planning and building for the next generation.
In the Kingfisher project, NG brought CVC in touch with many of the people who will now teach mission training. Next Generation empowered Kingfisher to not just grab the language school vision, but also to begin to realise the vision of a mission training centre.
