Cole Valley Cluster
In the early 1990s, the pastors of a group of Baptist churches in East
Birmingham started to meet regularly together for fellowship and mutual support.
Close and trusting relationships were built up between the ministers and in
1998, when three of the ministers were moving on, the group was opened up to
other leaders and church members. Elders, deacons and leadership teams started
meeting together. Churches began having joint events and services that involved
much wider groups from within the congregations. The depth of relationship that
had developed among the pastors began to spread across the church membership.
This group of churches became known as the "Cole Valley Cluster".
The Cluster at the moment consists of a number of East Birmingham churches
sharing fellowship with each other. The Pastors meet on a regular basis for both
fellowship, mutual support and prayer. Cluster Prayer Meetings, and Cluster Praise & Worship
Celebrations on a regular basis. CVC has seen and
practised the significant meaning of unity, solidarity, and co-operation for
God's Church, Kingdom and Lordship by agreeing on the Covenant
of Churches Together in the Cole Valley
The Vision
The Cole Valley Cluster of churches in East Birmingham dreams of being one of
the most significant missionary charities, carrying out transforming ministries
in love and unity: saving lost souls, transforming the needy world, and opening
opportunities for every person to integrate their personal vision with CVC's
corporate vision.
CVC dreams of their Birmingham churches in a wave of God's revival in full,
with the cluster becoming an expression of a loving community. They dream of the
cluster providing a place in which the hurting, lonely, addicted and poor -
anyone without God - can find life in all its fullness, and of challenging other
Christian fellowships into Christ-like love.
Their vision is to be an influential instrument, bridge and channel to bring
loving relationships and unity between British churches and other countries'
churches - at least over 50 countries' - and to bring the Good News into
international students' society in Birmingham in order to make them Christ's
disciples, especially for their own countries' mission.
They dream of a cloud of young people committing their lives to the Lord and
His Church's ministry, building up anew the hurting congregations and
challenging people outside the Church with the Good News in word and action, and
bringing growth in terms of number and maturity into British Churches.
They dream of equipping every person for significant ministry by helping them
discover the individual gifts and talents God gave them, and of sending out
hundreds of their members as career missionaries and church workers to every
continent.
