John Alvis

John Alvis trained as a pastor at Spurgeon's College, attaining a BA Hons in Theology and a Diploma in Pastoral Studies. John served as an associate pastor in London UK. At present, he is a pastor at Glebe Farm Baptist Church. He has previously been a pastor at two other churches in Devon and in Birmingham UK. 

He has visited Brazil and Korea, to establish relationships between churches there and in East Birmingham.

John has visited churches in the two most southerly states of Brazil in Joinville, Blumenau, Florianopolis, Porto Uniao, (all in Santa Catarina); Porto Alegre (in Rio Grande do Sul) - as well as churches in Uberlandia (Minais Gerais) in the centre of the country. 

In Korea, he visited churches in Seoul, Incheon, Kunsan and Yeosu. He was also instrumental in building the relationship with the Korean All-Nations Mission.

He is a qualified TEFL teacher, having gained a CTEFLA (Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language to Adults). As well as gaining experience in Summer Schools, he developed and taught a short course for a group of leaders and young people from the church in Joinville when they visited Birmingham.

He and his wife, Liz, have been married for 30 years, and have three adult children.

He has also been a librarian, government official, and worked in retail as well as being a pastor.

John is also a Co-opted Governor at a secondary school in Solihull.
